Pearce has been very vocal about the failed marriage since the start of her relationship with Ray. It was just a few months after she married the country singer that she admitted it was a mistake.

Talking to Bunnie XO on her Dumb Blonde podcast, Pearce, 33, said she knew almost immediately that she shouldn’t have married Ray because it was based on “lust” and not love.

The Kentucky-native and her now ex-husband were married in August 2019. Their divorce was made official just eight months later.

“It was just like, wow, I thought he was so cute. I heard he’s the nicest guy in the world,” the Grammy-award winner said of her initial attraction to Ray.

“I invited him to my No. 1 party for Every Little Thing. Looking back on it, it was a hot and heavy lust. It wasn’t love. It was just passionate.”

Pearce explained, however, that at the time, she didn’t think about those things and “felt really confident that this was the person I wanted to marry.”

Pearce added, “I got married to go the distance. When I married him, it was for the right reasons, but, with hindsight, I know neither one of us put in the work to make something last. We didn’t have real conversations, and we didn’t really know about each other. We were kind of living this life that wasn’t really reality.”

Ray and Pearce dated for two years before tying the knot. It was during that engagement period that things started to “slide.” Pearce adde,: “It wasn’t what I signed up for. It just wasn’t the marriage that I knew I deserved.”

The 2017 Breakout Artist of the Year admitted that “plenty happened to where it was very clear to me this was not, this just wasn’t a marriage.”

Carly Pearce told Bunnie XO on the Dumb Blonde podcast how she “knew the night she got married” it was wrong and, in her heart, should not have happened.

Pearce said, “I knew the night I got married that I shouldn’t have. I really felt it. I knew it.”

The No. 1 – Don’t Break Heart singer also confirmed that, at one point, she considered having a divorce, but something made her back out.

“When I was about to file for a divorce,” she continued. “My instincts were telling me to hit the brakes.”

Pearce has since moved on from Ray and is now in a relationship with Austin Glas.

The Dancing With the Devil singer shared the news on her Instagram stories. She wrote, “Wow, this year has been so many emotions. Some that I don’t even want to think about. I’m so grateful for every one of you in my life. Thank you for your kind words, your thoughts and your prayers, and your support.”

“The last thing I want is to cause you any harm, so I will not be playing any shows for a while. I need some time to reflect, but I promise I will be back stronger than ever.”

Pearce and her now ex-husband, Ray, met through their manager in early 2017.

Divorce from Husband Michael Ray & Talks of Infidelity

Carly Pearce has filed for divorce from her husband, Michael Ray. While the terms of the split have not been made public, reports are claiming the No. 1 hit Don’t Break Down singer left her husband of less than a year.

Divorce was finalised in May, according to court documents.

Pearce and Ray were first linked together in December 2016 when the couple met through their manager.

She later moved in with her husband in 2017, and the couple announced their engagement in February 2018.

Carly Pearce released her second studio album with the same title to positive reviews in August last year.

The album includes the hit singles Should’ve Known Better and I Hope You’re Happy Now, the latter of which was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2020.

Pearce talked about her previous marriage in detail during the podcast. She and Bunnie XO discussed whether Ray had an affair while they were together.

Pearce never directly stated her ex-husband was unfaithful during the marriage, but did not deny the speculation either.
