Ana de Armas’ Final Ballerina Trailer Is a Deadly Showcase

Ballerina isn’t here yet, but we’re down to just three weeks before Ana de Armas makes her grand entrance into the John Wick franchise. One of many From the World of John Wick spin-offs, the June 6, 2025, release is set to give audiences a new (yet very familiar) taste of Keanu Reeves’ action series. Thankfully, one last trailer has arrived, courtesy of Lionsgate.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is where Ballerina’s story sits in the timeline. Released in 2019, the third installment in the franchise was, for many, a satisfying conclusion to Reeves’ story. A ruthless High Table sanctions a multi-million-dollar bounty on John’s head for breaking the rules of the assassin’s world by killing crime lord Santino D’Antonio (playing a notable historical figure) inside the Continental Hotel’s grounds.

Escaping in a hail of bullets, John Wick ran for his life across New York City, looking for allies. He eventually reached a local Russian mafia headquarters and the Church (organized crime’s governing body).

Under the leadership of the enigmatic, iron-fisted Director (Anjelica Huston), the Ruska Roma crime syndicate served as a sanctuary and a training ground for young recruits. But they weren’t ordinary ballerinas. Directors chosen were ballerina-assassins, trained in the art of ballet and murder. In John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, there was a brief mention of a ballerina character. Unity Phelan plays a young ballerina in rehearsal on the theatre stage. That character is Eve Macarro, who now leads the spin-off.

Eve’s Character Is Introduced in the First Trailer

The first trailer for Ballerina was released in September 2024, and it focused on Eve. Orphaned at a young age, the ballerina had one purpose — to seek vengeance for her father’s brutal murder. The footage in the first trailer gave off vibes of an emotional, character-driven film, with just a brief cameo of John Wick.

The second trailer was much different and was leased back in March 2025. It gave fans a longer look at what they’d been waiting for since 2024 — an intense and brooding meeting in a dark, snow-swept location between John Wick and Eve. While not showing too much, it also teased the fact that there would be more on-screen time for both characters than the first trailer implied.

Fans Are Now Greeted with Explosive and Violent Footage

This latest and final trailer is a step away from what fans have seen in the first two. It kicks off by showing Eve on the ground with John Wick staring down at her through a sniper scope. From that point, the trailer takes a much faster pace, ratcheting up the energy and mixing new footage in with the earlier clips that have already been released. Most of it is a mix of close-quarters combat, gunfights, and razor-edged choreography.

The final trailer gives a sense of Ana de Armas’ physicality and willingness to take part in the violent action. As de Armas’ character takes on foe after foe, she is repeatedly shown engaged in the franchise’s familiar balletic style of violent choreography. An on-screen caption states, “This isn’t done until they’re dead,” giving a sense of the mission’s scope.

Audiences Will See Ballerina Follow a Violent and Vengeful Path

The premise of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum centered around John Wick being hunted after breaking one of the assassin’s underworld unspoken rules. The reason for her mission is similar to Btolerina, and audiences have been given a quick glimpse at the story arc. It will be de Armas’ mission to avenge the brutal murder of her father.

But what will be new with the spin-off is the eye through which the events in John Wick are now being viewed. The final trailer for Ballerina shows the action through the eyes of a woman. It also shows the franchise taking on a much more aggressive tone, with many of the on-screen sequences showing violence. But where Ballerina does seem to diverge from some of the John Wick earlier installments is that it also looks set to feature plenty of emotional and character-driven moments.
